DESCRIPTION:The Big Plant is a community event hosted by the @Environmental Coalition at Virginia Tech\, @Stroubles Creek Coalition\, Virginia Tech\, TerraHabitats and New River Conservancy where thousands of trees are planted on Virginia Tech’s campus and surrounding Blacksburg area to initiate ecological restoration.\n.\nThe event is open to the public\, which brings in hundreds of students and community members of all backgrounds and ages to volunteer.\n.\nHosted by the Environmental Coalition at Virginia Tech\, Stroubles Creek Coalition\, Virginia Tech\, VT StREAM Lab\, Watershed Restoration Solutions and New River Conservancy where thousands of trees are planted on Virginia Tech’s campus and surrounding Blacksburg area to initiate ecological restoration. \n.\n\n\nThe Big Plant’s mission is to engage community members in projects that improve landscape resiliency\, increase stormwater preparedness\, and improve water quality through the planting of native trees and shrubs along waterways\n.\n\n\nThis event is directly funded by VDOF\, VDEQ\, VT Office of Sustainability\, and VT Student Budget Board and also funded in part by VT Site and Infrastructure Development and in partnership between NRC\, Virginia Tech\, and the Environmental Coalition at VT in Blacksburg.\n\n\n.\nMeeting location HERE\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
