DESCRIPTION:Grayson County needs YOU to be at Fries Park below the Fries Dam for this Clean-up! Join Grayson County representatives and employees in clearing trash and tires from the New River in beautiful Fries. We’ll be joined by some folks from the Fries Fiddlers’ Convention to liven up the morning after our clean-up with some old-time tunes! Be sure to head over to the Fiddlers’ Convention after doing your part to help keep the New River clean and beautiful. \nContact for more details and to sign up: visit@graysoncountyva.gov\nOR Will Sowards at New River Conservancy \nDIRECTIONS: \nPhysical Address: 336 Firehouse Drive\, Fries\, VA 24333 \nFrom Galax\, head north on SR-607/Fries Rd\, turn left onto SR-721/Fries Rd\, slight right onto E. Main St\, turn left onto Firehouse Dr\, turn left onto Anderson St and follow it to the parking area. \nLINK TO GOOGLE MAP -> 36°42’52.0″N 80°58’35.4″W – Google Maps \nPlease be advised that cell reception is spotty throughout Grayson County\, so it’s always best to download your directions ahead of time. \nHOW TO PLAN FOR YOUR RIVER CLEAN-UP: \n\nPFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) REQUIRED for your safety\nSturdy gloves for picking up trash and debris\nDress to get wet and dirty–you WILL get wet and dirty!\nWear river-safe shoes\, preferably with a closed toe–no flip-flops\, please!\nBring a kayak or canoe if you have them!\n\nBags will be provided to collect river trash at the Fries Boat Launch site. All trash and debris will be weighed and then collected by our partners at Virginia DWR and Grayson County Public Works. \nIn the event of severe weather or poor river conditions\, the clean-up will be cancelled. Please refer to the clean-up organizers to know if a clean-up is cancelled.
