DESCRIPTION:Grayson Landcare and Preserve Grayson invite you to help keep the ancient New River beautiful for their Clean River Month volunteer clean-up. Meet the crew at the Bridle Creek boat landing outside of Independence and do your part to close out Clean River Month with a strong finish! \nContact for more details and to sign up: exdirector.glc@gmail.com\nOR Will Sowards at New River Conservancy \nDIRECTIONS: \nPhysical Address: 3436 Gold Hill Rd\, Independence\, VA 24348 \nFrom Independence\, head west on US-58/W. Main/Wilson Hwy\, turn left onto SR-711/Battlefield Dr\, turn left onto SR-601/Bridle Creek Rd/Gold Hill Rd\, and the parking area is on the left just after the bridge. \nLINK TO GOOGLE MAP -> 36°35’45.2″N 81°14’32.6″W – Google Maps \nHOW TO PLAN FOR YOUR RIVER CLEAN-UP: \n\nPFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) REQUIRED for your safety\nSturdy gloves for picking up trash and debris\nDress to get wet and dirty–you WILL get wet and dirty!\nWear river-safe shoes\, preferably with a closed toe–no flip-flops\, please!\nBring a kayak or canoe if you have them!\n\nBags will be provided to collect river trash at the Bridle Creek Boat Launch site. All trash and debris will be weighed and then collected by our partners at Virginia DWR and Grayson County Public Works. \nIn the event of severe weather or poor river conditions\, the clean-up will be cancelled. Please refer to the clean-up organizers to know if a clean-up is cancelled.
