DESCRIPTION:The water’s warming up for the inaugural New River Day community paddle/float\, cookout & river cleanup!\n.\nWe will gather at Riverview Park at 10:00 a.m.\, and begin the paddle at 10:30 a.m.. The group will paddle to shelter 3 at Bisset Park\, where burgers and hotdogs will be served from 11:30 – 1pm\, courtesy of Ameriprise Financial of Radford.\n.\nCommunity members will be encouraged to engage in stewardship by bringing an onion or potato bag for trash collection while appreciating and celebrating the wondrous New River. DESCRIPTION:Please register for our New River Clean Up from the Independence River Access\, 1236 Old River Ln\, Independence\, VA 24348  to 146 River Road\, Sparta\, NC\, 28675 on Saturday June 27\, 2026 \n \nPlease meet at 1236 Old River Ln\, Independence\, VA 24348  at 10:00 AM to set shuttle\n\n\nSpring into the New this June and join our clean stream team to help clean North America’s Oldest River.\n\n\nThe New River Conservancy will supply all tools and equipment for this clean up with additional support from our partners; NC State Parks\, Keep Alleghany Litter Free\, NC Wildlife Federation’s High Country Wild Chapter and NC Works.\n\nDress to get dirty and bring plenty of water as well as a light lunch.\n\nPlease bring your own kayak or canoe if you have them and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in.\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\nUpon completion of this registration you will be contacted by New River Conservancy Clean Up Coordinator Will Sowards with further information.\n\nQuestions?
