DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting two clean ups after Ann Rose’s Celebration in Lansing\, North Carolina. \n. \nThese New River cleanups are co-sponsored by Ann Rose – River Warrior. The New River Conservancy will provide shuttle\, canoes\, life jackets\, trash grabbers\, trash bags\, tire pullers\, and a great time. \n There will be a Big Horse Creek cleanup at 3:00 to  5:00 PM following Ann Rose’s Celebration at the Lansing Creeper Trail Park\, and a river clean up at Deep Ford Bridge. We will be running a shuttle from Lansing Creeper Trail Park at 5:00 after Ann Rose’s Celebration.\n.\n\nLAND BASED CLEAN UP:  We will be cleaning alongside Big Horse Creek on the Lansing Creeper Trail. This clean up is low pressure and you can spend as much or as little time helping as you want.  Please register for the LAND BASED HERE\n.\nRIVER BASED CLEAN UP: We will be cleaning a small section of river up from the Deep Ford Bridge. All trash and debris will be weighed and then collected by our partners at Virginia DWR and Grayson County Public Works. \nIn the event of severe weather or poor river conditions\, the clean-up will be cancelled. Please refer to the clean-up organizers to know if a clean-up is cancelled. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, Aug. 9\, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, the Museum of Ashe County History invites the public to attend the official ribbon cutting for its newest exhibit\, titled “A Home Away from Home: Recreation and Tourism in Ashe County.” \n\n\nThe new exhibit helps tell the story of Ashe County’s early tourism industry\, ranging from its historic resorts such as Healing Springs and Shatley Springs to the creation of Mount Jefferson State Park and the conservation of the New River. Some of the artifacts presented in this exhibit include historic postcards and brochures\, memorabilia from the Civilian Conservation Corps\, and the very pen used by President Gerald Ford to sign legislation designating a section of the New River as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. \nThe New River Conservancy will have an information table set up.
