What is PARC?

A clean & protected North Fork

Our Public Access Recreation Campaign (PARC) is geared towards three common goals to help provide a means of recovery for the region.  Your donation will go towards providing funding for the central pillars of the PARC campaign:

  1. Parks – Adding public parks on the North Fork of the New River.  Designated parks allow the riparian buffer a chance to grow wild and free, without being disturbed by folks wanting to get to the river.  A healthy riparian buffer is the last line of defense to a healthy river.
  2. Stewardship – Will help ensure the river is clean and attractive to recreation. River clean ups will maintain a clean and healthy river for recreating and for the wildlife that depend on it to survive.
  3. Community – Activating North Fork communities in the shared stewardship and protection of their river.  When a community comes together for a purpose, to help themselves and others, incredible things happen.  Communities in North Fork region know this better than most.

Resilience in Action

New River Conservancy (NRC), in partnership with Greater Lansing Area Development (GLAD), has launched the Public Access Recreation Campaign (PARC) project, designed to raise support for recreation on the North Fork of the New River through the development of new public access points, parks, and increased stewardship of the North Fork in ways that support recreation and long-term vitality of this region that was devastated by Hurricane Helene.

Please contact Stella Cybulski at stella@newriverconservancy.org if your organization is interested in becoming a lasting partner with PARC.
