Meet Anna Hilting
Volunteer Program Administrator
From the oceans to the mountain rivers
After many years working on and near the Atlantic Ocean, Anna Hilting moved to Ashe County, North Carolina in April 2022. Previously, Anna monitored water level and sea level rise in the marshes of the NC coast for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, studied primary productivity in the Southern Ocean, and for 12 years raised her son on a sailboat.
As much as she feels at home on the sea, she loves living in the mountains, working on and near the New River. Anna administers the New River Conservancy’s Volunteer Program and helps on a variety of projects.
