Last week we bid farewell to our Executive Director, Dr. Elizabeth Underwood, as she embarks on the next chapter of her career in nonprofit management.
Elizabeth’s time at New River Conservancy (NRC) has been nothing short of impressive. Under her leadership, NRC saw incredible growth in our organization both in water and land protection, and our financial portfolio; further expansion into Virginia and West Virginia; and new technological platforms that will serve the organization for years to come. Her commitment to teamwork, training, leadership development, and “leaving it better than you found it” will be felt for quite some time.
An avid paddler of both whitewater kayaking and flatwater canoeing, we know Elizabeth will remain a steadfast supporter of the New River and the mission of the New River Conservancy – to protect the waters, woodlands and wildlife of the New River Watershed.
Elizabeth will embark on her next adventure as Executive Director for the North American hub of Environmental Paper Network, a global network of non-profit organizations that effectively empowers and motivates consumers, corporations, organizations and governments to protect forests, climate, air, water and communities through more sustainable production and consumption of pulp and paper.
As Elizabeth begins this new chapter, we express our gratitude for her leadership, dedication to, and passion for, the New River Watershed. NRC is a better organization because of your leadership Elizabeth, and we wish her all the best in your next chapter.
The search for our next full-time Executive Director is underway. We will continue to count on your support in asking you to share the job posting to your respective networks of friends and colleagues who love the New River Watershed as much as you. Job posting is HERE
