Land conservation and preservation have been a priority for the school, Florence Thomas. Thomas generously donated her farm in Grassy Creek and hundreds of acres of the Thomas Family Farm to be conserved lands in Ashe County and Grayson Highlands State Park.

Esteemed guest speakers from the Nature Conservancy, New River Conservancy, and Blue Ridge Conservancy will share insights into their work in Ashe County and the surrounding region.

These organizations have played a crucial role in maintaining a balance between tourism, development, and the preservation of natural beauty. Their efforts have conserved thousands of acres of habitat, restored ecosystems, and protected the New River.
