Keepers of the Beauty

Join us for a conversation at The Florence Thomas Art School at an event called “Keepers of the Beauty: A Conversation About Land Conservation and Art” on June 10th, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00noon.

Land conservation and preservation have been a priority for the school, Florence Thomas. Thomas generously donated her farm in Grassy Creek and hundreds of acres of the Thomas Family Farm to be conserved lands in Ashe County and Grayson Highlands State Park.

Esteemed guest speakers from the Nature Conservancy, New River Conservancy, and Blue Ridge Conservancy will share insights into their work in Ashe County and the surrounding region.

These organizations have played a crucial role in maintaining a balance between tourism, development, and the preservation of natural beauty. Their efforts have conserved thousands of acres of habitat, restored ecosystems, and protected the New River.

This event aims to raise awareness and support for their ongoing work, inviting attendees to contribute to the sustainability of Ashe County’s natural environment.
