Riverfront Trash & Invasive Species Clean Up
November 7 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Please register for the New River Conservancy‘s Smith Farm Trail and Fairlawn Riverfront Cleanup on Saturday, November 7th, hosted in collaboration with Fairlawn Riverfront.
.
When: Exact Time TBD
.
Where: Meet at the Fairlawn Riverfront 5980 Dudley Ferry Road, Radford, VA 24141
.
Parking at Fairlawn Riverfront is limited and carpooling is encouraged.
.
Cleanup: Join the New River Conservancy to help clean up riverside trash and remove invasive plant species along Smith Farm Trail in Fairlawn, VA. We will be cleaning trash and removing invasives along the riverbank from that address southwest to Sheffey Park (located about 1.3 miles upriver, accessible by Hazel Hollow Rd or on foot by Smith Farm Trail). At higher flood stages, this zone becomes inundated by the New River, which may spread or deposit trash and transport invasive species seeds. Our work is crucial to a healthy river ecosystem!
.
Tools/equipment: The New River Conservancy will supply the following: grabbers, gloves, trash bags, light snacks, water.
.
Come prepared with: Closed-toe shoes, long pants, a personal water bottle, and whatever snacks you may want. Long sleeves are recommended. The area is largely shaded but consider appropriate sun protection.
.
Optional: anything that may aid in safe clean up of trash or mechanical removal of invasive species (i.e. weeding tools, extra thick gloves for thorny species)
.
If your availability changes or you have to cancel, please reach out and let us know as soon as you are able.
.
Upon completion of this form, you will be contacted by New River Conservancy Clean Up Coordinator, Sydney Haney, with further information.
