GLAD donates 10K to NRC for new Public Access Recreation Campaign

Have you ever wanted to drop into the North Fork of the New River, but did not know where to go? We are very excited to announce a partnership with GLAD Greater Lansing Area Development on a new public access point at the Deep Ford Road bridge, just a few miles from Lansing. Seed money of $10,000 kicks off the North Fork Public Access Recreation Campaign (PARC). This is the first step in making this beautiful space more accessible to the public.

Lansing, NC was hit hard by Hurricane Helene as the floodwaters of Big Horse Creek rose over 25′ sending a 10′ wall of water through the small town.  Developing a new dedicated public access point not only protects the riparian buffer of the North Fork of the New River, it will also aid in the economic recovery for the region.
.
GLAD is a 501(c)3 non-profit mission is to harness Lansing’s potential and facilitate economic growth by promoting environmental awareness, recreation, and a sustainable lifestyle in our town while preserving its historic integrity and charm.  Since Helene devastated the town, GLAD has focused on recovery.
.
Keep your eyes open for more information and giving opportunities as this moves along and tell your friends. This will be the first of its kind on the North Fork and we are so proud to partner with GLAD in this endeavor.

NRC Executive Director, Andrew Downs, accepts a $10,000 check from GLAD Board President, James Littlejohn.  Ann Rose, of River Warrior fame is in center.
