In 2021, NRC and partners were chosen to receive the Source Water Protection Award for work to improve the water quality, habitat, and flood resiliency of the Middle Fork New River adjacent to HWY 321 and the Blue Ridge Parkway in Blowing Rock, NC. Partners involved in this effort include Jennings Environmental, Blue Ridge Conservancy, Middle Fork Greenway, Blue Ridge RC&D, Town of Blowing Rock, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The N.C. Source Water Protection Awards Program was created to support the NCSWC’s mission by acknowledging candidates that demonstrate innovative, proactive, and collaborative solutions to protect North Carolina’s drinking water and the watersheds that support it.
