The New River Conservancy invites you to be a part of the biennial New River Symposium. The 2026 theme is “Resilience in the New River Watershed”, which will highlight themes of resilience of all types – environmental, architectural, cultural, economical and communal. How is this theme showing up in your work?
The New River Symposium is an eclectic conference and gathering of the New River watershed, open to anyone with interest in the New River. Anthropologists, artists, teachers, students, historians, researchers, community leaders, government officials, stewards, river keepers, planners, boaters, birders, anglers, and friends from up and down the New are all welcome.

As the watershed is still managing the varied impacts of hurricane Helene, this year’s symposium is especially valuable and can be a space to gather and to share the unique and sometimes familiar stories of recovery. Please submit a presentation proposal through the google form link below:
