Meet Jorge Quintal

Land Protection Committee

Jorge Quintal is currently serving as a Board Member based in North Carolina – however his educational and professional background demonstrate an extensive history of working to protect the New River. Jorge received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina.

Beginning in 2008 Jorge served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities and Chief Sustainability Officer at the University of North Carolina Greensboro before retiring in June of 2019.

Among his accomplishments, Jorge was a recipient of the Frank B. Turner Award from the North Carolina State Construction Office in 2017 – an award presented for significant contributions to the built environment of state facilities.

Jorge enjoys fishing the New River and tributaries in North Carolina.
