An organic farmer and former nurse, Ann Rose’s farm is nestled in the Appalachian mountains and is starting to be impacted by drought. For the last 3 years her springs have dried up in August resulting in crop losses.
By doing the New-Kan-Oh-Miss river adventure, Ann hopes to bring more awareness to water shortages nationwide and water pollution in my watershed. Her springs are part of the watersheds that flow to the Gulf.
Beginning July 7, Ann plans to kayak 1895 miles starting close to home on the New River, continuing on the Kanawha then Ohio rivers, to join the Mississippi until reaching the Gulf of Mexico, 10 weeks later.
Join us as she launches her voyage from the Old Orchard Creek Store in Lansing, NC on the banks of Big Horse Creek.
