River CleanUps are crucial to protecting the waters, woodlands, and wildlife of the New River Watershed. Pollution in the New can harm physical habitat, transport chemical pollutants, threaten aquatic life, and interfere with human uses of the river. However each year we get help from our River Cleanup Volunteers, to remove trash from the river.
With your help we have cleaned over 1,500 miles of river and removed over 14,000 tires.
With your help we have cleaned out and disposed of 500,000 pounds of trash. That’s the equivalent of 250 ’79 Volkswagen Beetles! Or 40 African elephants!
